Introduction
The Holy Quran, the sacred book of Muslims, was revealed by Allah to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as guidance and mercy for all humankind. It possesses unique characteristics that make it an everlasting miracle, challenging humanity throughout the ages. This miraculous nature is manifested in various aspects, including language, science, legislation, and more. In this article, we will explore the concept of Quranic miracle and review some aspects that prove the Quran is the true word of Allah.
Firstly: The Concept of Quranic Miracle
The term “miracle” linguistically means something that is beyond human capability to replicate or match, implying its divine origin. The Quranic miracle refers to the unique attributes and features of the Quran that make it impossible for humans to imitate or produce anything like it, whether in its language, meanings, legislations, or its foreknowledge. Allah challenged the Arabs, who were masters of eloquence and rhetoric, to produce something like the Quran, yet they failed despite their linguistic prowess.
Secondly: The Linguistic and Rhetorical Miracle
One of the most prominent aspects of the Quran’s miracle is its linguistic and rhetorical excellence. Revealed in classical Arabic, the Quran’s style is unparalleled, and no one among the eloquent Arabs could replicate it. The Quran is distinguished by a style that combines simplicity with depth, brevity with comprehensiveness, and effectiveness with eloquence. This miracle is evident in the arrangement of words, choice of vocabulary, and construction of sentences and verses, making it a text beyond human capacity to craft.
Allah says: “Say, ‘If mankind and the jinn gathered to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants.'” (Al-Isra: 88). This challenge has remained since the revelation of the Quran, and no one has been able to match it, attesting to its miraculous nature.
Thirdly: The Scientific Miracle
The Quran contains numerous verses that discuss natural and cosmic phenomena, the accuracy of which modern science has only discovered centuries after the Quran’s revelation. Examples include verses about the development of the embryo in the mother’s womb, the role of mountains in stabilizing the earth, the movement of the sun and the moon, and other phenomena unknown to humans at the time of the Quran’s revelation.
Allah says: “Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?” (Al-Anbiya: 30). This verse alludes to a scientific fact only recently discovered, which is that the universe was initially a single mass that separated.
Fourthly: The Legislative Miracle
The legislative miracle of the Quran is evident in the laws and regulations it provides to organize human life in various aspects, in a manner that achieves happiness and balance in life.
